KFC is the ultimate definition of comfort food. From the iconic chicken to the equally mouthwatering sides, Colonel Sanders serves nothing but the most scrumptious dishes. But as much as I love KFC, having fast food every day isn’t the most ideal. Thankfully, with these homemade versions, I still get to enjoy equally delicious but relatively healthier versions of my favorite KFC goodies. So, are you ready for some finger-lickin’ good treats? Ditch the takeout and say hello to these KFC recipes! From the coleslaw up to the gravy, these copycat recipes can replicate every KFC item you can think of.
Easy Copycat KFC Chicken Recipe and More!
1. KFC Coleslaw
Let’s kick off this list with my number one favorite KFC side dish. Who else’s life isn’t complete without the KFC coleslaw? I feel you! Fortunately, this recipe makes a super impressive copycat of the iconic KFC side dish. The shredded cabbage and carrots are nice and crunchy and are wonderfully moistened with a blend of mayo, milk, and buttermilk. The onions, lemon juice, and sugar really give the coleslaw that wonderful punch of flavor, as well. The ingredients list is a tad long, but they’re all common pantry ingredients that I’m pretty sure you already have available.
2. KFC Style Spicy Popcorn Chicken
Next up, a delicious popcorn-style chicken that you’ll want to snack on all day long. These bite-sized morsels are addictive, for sure. That ridiculously crunchy exterior will give you love at first bite. Seasoned with a blend of spices, the coating alone is already loaded with flavor. The chicken is marinated in spices and seasonings as well, so the insides are just as flavorful as the exterior. These bites are spectacular on their own, but even more delectable when dunked in gravy or sriracha mayo.
3. KFC-Style Crispy Fried Chicken Burger
Whether you call it the Zinger, snacker, or chicken burger, this KFC-style chicken sandwich is one for the books. There’s something truly special about using deep-fried chicken fillets as a sandwich filling. The mere thought of it gives me so much joy. Call me crazy, but I think this sandwich is even better than a regular burger. I just love the crispy outer crust and the oh so tender, moist, and juicy chicken that awaits inside. Sandwiched in two burger buns along with cheese, mayo, and lettuce, this chicken sandwich is to die for.
4. Copycat KFC Biscuits
These biscuits are ready in just 20 minutes, can you believe it? It’s a quick and easy recipe, but don’t be fooled. These biscuits are light, flaky, and wonderfully savory. They’re definitely the real deal. They taste just like KFC biscuits, but because they’re homemade, they taste even better. Serve these biscuits with jam, honey, and/or butter, and breakfast is served. Personally, though, I love them with fried chicken and gravy.
5. KFC Potato Salad
Potato salad is a creamy side dish that’s perfect for potlucks and picnics. The combination of soft and starchy potatoes, onions, carrots, and celery creates such beautiful colors. The creamy mayo mix is the perfect creamy dressing that ties all the flavors together. It’s served chilled, so it’s super refreshing on a warm summer day! It’s a perfect side dish, but to me, it’s special enough to be served as an entree. Because it’s loaded with potatoes, this salad isn’t only delicious, but it will surely satisfy your hunger.
6. KFC Potato Wedges
While French fries are deemed by most as the best potato-based side dish, I’m partial to potato wedges. Here’s why. With wedges, you get more. They’re thicker, which means every bite is loaded with more potato goodness. Coated with seasonings and deep-fried to perfection, the wedges’ exteriors are just as golden and crispy as a regular fry. There are tons of potato wedge recipes out there, but this KFC copycat is absolutely the best. Soaked in milk and coated with a blend of spices and seasonings, the amazing flavors in these potatoes are undeniable.
7. Copycat KFC Wings
While KFC keeps their prized chicken recipe close to their chest, it couldn’t hurt to take a guess. This copycat fried chicken recipe may not taste exactly like the real deal, but it’s a pretty close replica. To be honest, when it comes to texture, there’s nothing remarkable about the KFC fried chicken. The skins are borderline soggy. The meat is tender and juicy, but it’s just like any other fast-food chicken. What makes KFC chicken a cut above the rest is its unique flavor. So for this recipe, you’ll need a bunch of seasonings to try to recreate that distinct KFC chicken goodness. I’m talking thyme, basil, paprika, oregano, and a lot more. You can even throw some MSG in there, too. It’s unhealthy, I know, but it’ll definitely give your chicken that delicious, umami, I-must-have-more flavor.
8. KFC Macaroni Salad
Who can say no to KFC’s macaroni salad? It’s hearty, rich, delectable, and just absolutely phenomenal. This is summer potluck gold! Bring this creamy salad to your next party and your friends will love you even more. Don’t worry if you don’t know a single thing about cooking. This recipe is so easy, anyone can pull it off. In fact, all you’ll have to do is throw all the ingredients into a bowl and mix. Easy peasy, am I right?
9. KFC Roast Chicken
While KFC is known for its fried chicken, did you know the food chain also used to serve roast chicken? Yup, it was back in the 90s when KFC offered Tender Roast Chicken on their menu. If you’re old enough to know about this now-phased-out item, you’re in for a treat. Go down memory lane and make KFC roast chicken in the comfort of your home. All you’ll need are a bunch of spices and seasonings, and of course, some chicken.
10. KFC Gravy
We can’t have a collection of KFC recipes without featuring the KFC gravy, now, can we? Whenever I order takeout at KFC, I always get an extra order of two of their gravy. I don’t know what magical ingredient they put in it, but it’s definitely addictive. I put that delicious sauce with chicken, pork, beef, rice, everything. You can just imagine my joy when I came across this copycat gravy recipe. If you’re just as hooked with KFC gravy as I am, this recipe is definitely a must-try. Click on a star to rate it!
