For this list, I’ve tried to provide copycat recipes for some of McDonald’s most popular foods – the Big Mac, the Shamrock Shake, the Sausage and Egg McMuffin, etc. If you’re a giant McDonald’s fan, this is an excellent way for you to still enjoy your favorite foods without spending all the extra money. Plus, in many cases, making these recipes from home will mean they taste better and are a little healthier. So let’s jump right in!
1. McDonald’s Sausage and Egg McMuffin Recipe
With a slice of American cheese, an English muffin, and some sausage, you can perfectly recreate the Sausage and Egg McMuffin from McDonald’s. It’s a simple matter of toasting the muffin, slapping the sausage patty on the grill (or stove), and fixing one perfect sunny-side-up egg. Assemble the sandwich, and enjoy!
2. Big Mac
Two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions on a three-piece sesame seed bun… No, I’m not talking about the Big Mac. I’m talking about the copycat Big Mac recipe you’ll make at home! And don’t worry, this recipe gives you all the ingredients you need to make the “special sauce.” It’s a balanced mixture of mayonnaise, ketchup, dill pickle juice, French dressing, sweet relish, sugar, minced onion, and salt, and it’s super easy to pull together.
3. McDonald’s French Fries
There’s something about McDonald’s French fries that are just better than other fries. They’re thin, crispy, and have the precise amount of salt to make them spectacularly good. This recipe doesn’t replicate the McDonald’s recipe exactly, and that’s actually a good thing because these are healthier. Plus, they taste, feel, and look the same, which is awesome.
4. McDonald’s Hot Mustard Sauce
When it comes to true deliciousness, McDonald’s doesn’t just have it in the food; some of their condiments are also phenomenal. This five-ingredient, 5-minute recipe for hot mustard is one of those. It’s excellent stuff, whether you use it for dipping chicken nuggets or French fries.
5. Shamrock Shake
It still upsets me that McDonald’s doesn’t keep the Shamrock Shake on the menu all year long, but with this copycat recipe, at least I can make my own! And it’s just as smooth, creamy, thick, and tasty as the original.
6. Oreo McFlurry
If you can pour milk, vanilla ice cream, and Oreos into the blender and hit a button, you can make your very own Oreo McFlurry in 5 minutes or less. It doesn’t get much simpler than that.
7. McDonald’s Caramel Frappe
Mmmmm… McDonald’s caramel frappe. It’s one of those drinks that tastes so good, even people who hate McDonald’s like it. It’s rich and creamy, flawlessly blending the flavors of caramel, chocolate, almond milk, and coffee. Add some whipped cream and a cherry on top, and you’ll have a decadent, delicious morning drink.
8. Strawberry Banana Smoothie
The strawberry banana smoothie is another super yummy drink that you can make in 5 minutes or less. Simply toss half a banana, some almond milk, vanilla yogurt, and frozen strawberries into the blender. Blend for about a minute, and then enjoy the fruity goodness that is this smoothie.
9. McDonald’s Buffalo Chicken Nuggets
These nuggets take a bit longer to make than some of the things on this list, but not by much. They’re well worth the 45 minutes it takes to cook them, anyway. They have a simple, four-ingredient breading that’s perfectly crunchy. The chicken is tender and seasoned with garlic, onion powder, and a few other things that give it an amazing flavor. The tangy, slightly zesty buffalo dipping sauce rounds out the whole meal.
10. McDonald’s Iced Coffee
McDonald’s iced coffee is known for its sweet vanilla flavor, and you can replicate that with a can of sweetened condensed milk. Aside from that, all you’ll need is coffee and some ice cubes. It takes 10 minutes to make, and is the ideal morning or afternoon pick-me-up.
11. McDonald’s Shake
Whether you enjoy vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry, you won’t need more than three ingredients to make a copycat McDonald’s milkshake. Start with a base of vanilla ice cream and low-fat milk. Then add sugar for a vanilla shake, Nestle Nesquik Instant Chocolate Drink Mix for chocolate, or Nestle Strawberry Powder for strawberry.
12. McDonald’s Pancakes
Making McDonald’s pancakes is pretty simple. Just make pancakes. After all, pancakes are sweet, fluffy, and scrumptious no matter who makes them or which restaurant sells them. Just don’t forget to add the sugar and the dash of salt. To me, that’s what sets McDonald’s pancakes just a little apart from the rest.
13. McDonald’s McCafe Caramel Cappuccino
With some coffee, milk, caramel topping, and whipped cream, you can whip up an at-home McDonald’s McCafe Caramel Cappuccino that rivals cappuccinos from the finest coffee shops in Brazil.
14. McDonald’s Copycat Sweet Chili Chicken Wrap
This healthy wrap is as attractive as it is tasty. If you love juicy chicken, crisp, garden-fresh veggies, and the sweetness of Thai sweet chili sauce, it’s the wrap for you. Plus, it only takes about 10 minutes to prepare.
15. McDonald’s Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry
There are plenty of things I love about springtime, but the arrival of McDonald’s Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry is one of the things I love most. It’s just as simple to make as the Oreo McFlurry. Toss your Cadbury Eggs, vanilla ice cream, and some heavy whipping cream into the blender, and pulse it about 10 times. Top it off with some whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and more Cadbury Eggs, and you’ll have a real spring treat.
16. McDonald’s Southwest Salad
Aside from maybe the Shamrock Shake, the Southwest Salad is my favorite item on the McDonald’s menu. I love all the fresh veggies, corn, black beans, and crunchy tortilla chips. The slight heat from the peppers and the zest from the marinade make it even better.
17. McDonald’s Hash Browns
This copycat recipe for McDonald’s hash browns is gluten-free and vegan-friendly. The hash browns themselves are golden brown, crunchy, and seasoned just right. They don’t take all that long to make, either. (The 1.17-hour prep time comes primarily from freezing them.)
18. McDonald’s Mocha Frappe
Just in case you needed one more sweet drink you can whip up quickly in a blender, here is the copycat recipe for McDonald’s mocha frappe. To make it icy and frosty, you’ll have to add coffee ice cubes. You may want to make them a day ahead of time so that you don’t have to wait when you want to enjoy this yummy treat. Once your coffee ice cubes are ready, add chilled coffee, sugar, milk, chocolate syrup, half-and-half, and whipped cream in a blender. Once they’re all nice and blended, top the drink with whipped cream and more chocolate sauce.
19. McDonald’s Tartar Sauce
Along with their hot mustard, McDonald’s also makes phenomenal tartar sauce (which is a little weird since it’s mostly a burger place). Luckily, it’s easy to recreate this tasty sauce at home. All you’ll need is mayo, sugar, dill pickle relish, and a bit of finely chopped onion. You’ll be putting this stuff on everything before too long.
20. McDonald’s Holiday Pie
It’s hard to beat a warm, flaky, crispy McDonald’s Holiday Pie. It’s like a sugar cookie mixed with a homemade pie, and it’s insanely delicious. Oh, and the powdered sugar glaze? Absolutely drool-worthy. Truthfully, though, everything about this pie, from its crust and filling to the glaze and sprinkles is baked goods perfection. Plus, you can make them in the oven or the air fryer! Click on a star to rate it!
