How to Cook Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings in the Air Fryer
Preheat the Air Fryer to 380º Fahrenheit. Prepare the Air Fryer basket with olive oil spray. Rinse and pat the wings with paper towels until they are completely dry. Add the chicken wings, olive oil, cornstarch, ground black pepper, paprika, lemon pepper seasoning, and lemon zest to a large Ziploc bag. Seal the bag and toss to coat the wings with the oil and seasonings. Place wings in a single layer in the basket of your Air Fryer. Cook at 380ºF for 16 minutes, flipping every 4 minutes. Increase the heat to 400ºF and cook for an additional 4 minutes. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the wings have reached 165ºF. Add 1-2 minutes at 400ºF if needed. Remove the crispy wings from the Air Fryer basket and place them on a serving dish. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and sides like celery and blue cheese dressing and crumbles.
What sides go well with Lemon Pepper Air Fryer Wings?
Celery sticks, Air Fryer French Fries, blue cheese dressing, or any of your other favorite sauces pair well with this dish.
How are these wings healthier than regular hot wings?
These crispy Air Fryer chicken wings contain very little oil, unlike restaurants that are deep frying their chicken in oil.
Are these wings keto diet friendly?
Yes! This easy recipe only contains protein and fat with minimal carbs, so it works perfectly for the keto diet!
How can I jazz up this recipe?
You can add more spices such as onion powder or garlic powder to give these chicken wings an even more savory flavor.
How should I store leftover wings?
You can store leftover wings in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
Should I buy whole wings or separate wings for this recipe?
You can buy either! If you buy whole wings, make sure to discard the wing tips before air frying your chicken. If you buy wings that are already separated, you can use the wings right away.
TIPs
If you don’t have cornstarch, you can use flour instead! Just make sure to use twice as much flour as cornstarch for best results. If you’re cutting up whole wings, cut off the small wing tip, and then use a sharp knife to cut the wings in the joint to make the wings and drummettes. If you want some added lemon flavor, squeeze a little lemon juice on the wings just before serving.
Can I use cooking spray instead of olive oil?
Absolutely! Instead of putting a tablespoon of olive oil into the Ziploc bag to coat the chicken, you can spray the wings while they’re inside the bag to coat them.
Can I double layer the wings in the Air Fryer?
We recommend single layering your chicken wings to ensure they cook evenly in the Air Fryer. Then, depending on the size of your Air Fryer, you can use another rack for cooking the other layer at the same time.
Can I use frozen chicken wings if I can’t find fresh chicken wings?
Yes! However, you will need to defrost the wings before frying since you are coating them in seasoning before putting them into the Air Fryer.
How do I prevent the chicken wings from sticking to the rack?
You can use a sheet of parchment paper to line the rack or pan before putting your wings on it. Then, throw the parchment paper away after taking your chicken wings out of the Air Fryer. This helps reduce cleanup time afterward. MORE AIR FRYER CHICKEN RECIPES
