Looking for something different to enjoy on your next movie night? Try this Popcorn Trail Mix! I absolutely do not recommend taking this as a snack for any long treks (HA) BUT it is absolutely perfect for snacking at home or even gifting to friends and family around the holidays.
This popcorn snack mix can be as easy to throw together as opening some store bought bags, throwing them together and drizzling with melted chocolate. Or use the easy recipes to make your own popcorn and roasted almonds.

INGREDIENTS

Sweet & Salty Popcorn - make your own or use store bought. You can also substitute for plain popcorn (air popped, stovetop or store bought), but I really love the sweet and salty mix here. Pretzels Roasted Almonds - make your own or use store bought. You can also substitute for your favourite nut. Plain M&M’s - or use your favourite small candy instead.Milk, Dark OR White Chocolate - or a combination. This is to drizzle on top of the popcorn snack mix. I love to use milk chocolate. OPTIONAL - Cachous Balls. If you’re making this snack mix as an edible gift, I recommend adding cachous balls after you drizzle the chocolate over the mix. You can usually buy these balls in silver, red or green, and they will make your mix all the more festive. Once the snack mix is dry, pop them in individual bags to gift.

INSTRUCTIONS

Place all ingredients except the chocolate on a baking tray and spread out into a single layer. Add chocolate to a microwave-safe bowl (if it’s a block, break it up first) and microwave on high in 20 second intervals, stirring well each time, until melted and smooth. Use a fork or knife to drizzle the chocolate on top of the popcorn mix. Mix everything around a few times as you drizzle the chocolate or you’ll end up with pieces that don’t have chocolate. Allow chocolate to dry fully before transferring the snack mix into an airtight container to store. You can also break up any large clumps.

TOP TIPS

I like to make my own sweet and salty popcorn and roasted almonds for this recipe, but feel free to use all store bought if that makes life easier. It will still be every bit as delicious.Make sure you give the mix a good stir through a couple of times while drizzling the chocolate over so all the pieces are covered. If you’re making this snack mix as an edible gift, I recommend adding cachous balls after you drizzle the chocolate over the mix.
